The ripple of insurrection across the Atlantic earned Paine notoriety—and infamy—through the prolific distribution of his pamphlet and his support of the French Revolution. The American Crisis pamphlets inspired and encouraged Americans to persevere against the British Army.
He ordered his printers to give every cent he earned to Congress to buy war supplies for George Washington. The decision drew ire from French Revolutionaries, and he was imprisoned in France until an American diplomat secured his release and return to the United States. For example, polygamy. But then, Paine travelled to Europe to help the French in their revolution. It was here that he wrote The Age of Reason.
Whereas his previous writings showed honor to the Scriptures, this new writing mocked them. They changed the length of the work week to ten days to show their disdain for the seven day week instituted by God. They put up a statue of Lady Reason.
They changed marital laws and many other laws to show that they rejected Christianity. In America, the Great Awakening had made many hearts tender towards Jesus.
This gave America a stability and wisdom that could never be known by those who were merely rebelling against the abuses of the ancien regime of church and monarchy. After the French Revolution, Paine represented the extreme denial of God and his Word—and Americans saw that it led to the guillotine, so they rejected him. I'm passionate about Jesus and I love to defend the gospel of grace and truth. I have a large and active family that keeps me busy and overwhelmed on a daily basis.

Migliore criticizes the fact that exactly this approach to scripture has led to oppression in history slavery, and patriarchiepatriarchy. In contemporary setting he also considers this an undemocratic process which diminishes our free agency and can lead to a paradigm. Paine shows that there is a fault in this argument by stating if the king must be monitored than he cannot be trusted, and that if he is being monitored by the people, than the people are better fit for the crown than the king is.
Additionally, Paine suggest that the English constitution needs no mention of a king, since he believes a country without a king could be more prosperous and peaceful. Paine also mentions that a king is not supported by the rights of nature or scripture, and creates the question of what really justifies a monarchy, and even includes it as a sin of the Jewish.
