The only problems I've encountered with the bike are some heavier vibrations in lower gears around rpm. Nothing worth worrying about though. The passenger seat is also something worth noting.
When the passenger is seated, their knees are bent with their feet underneath them. This can be a little uncomfortable on longer rides. Other than those few observations, the Ninja r is definately a worthy purchase for any beginner, and will certainly keep a more experienced rider happy. With the new Ninja, I was delighted I chose this bike. It is very comfortable and it is so light that it speeds up quickly to pass slower vehicles. The good thing also is that you don't have to be super strong to push it around.
Other than that, this bike is very enjoyable and I currently get 52 miles per gallon at a fast pace, usually I take my rpms to Excellent bike. It was over 15 years ago. Memories were great! When I got ready to buy a bike I had split emotions between Zuki and Kawi cc class. I've tried both. Settled for R. I'll say it is a great bike that fits not only the budget, yet satisfies my needs to have pleasant cruise on any day.
Common concerns are: engine buzz above rpms, forward position is putting excessive pressure on wrists and carbs tend to ice up during cold humid days of riding. All these concerns can be alleviated by adding aftermaket parts. Have had no maintenance issues, and the bike starts right up every time. It performs much better in warm weather - just takes a mile or 2 to warm up when the temperature is below 60F.
This bike also has a bit of the cool factor that appeals to non-riders. I get compliments and looks frequently. That is probably because this bike wants to be revved up, and I don't deny it. The feeling of going from in an instant on this bike is like nothing you can experience in an automobile It's awesome.
For the money, I'd definitely recommend it to someone who is looking for an inexpensive entry level sport bike. The gas mileage is awesome and is very smooth shifting. Handling is very very good and am very pleased with the power and performance of this machine. Although it is a cc, it has all the power I will ever need, it does get the job done very well.
The break in period is not all that bad even though I am in my second stage of break in I have been able to cruise a comfy 70 miles an hour at only rpm's. Still under the limit for the second part of the break in, 75 miles an hour puts me at the rpm mark. Needless to say I am in no hurry to reach the mile break in of the machine. Most of the top speeds in this part of Oklahoma is 75 miles an hour max, and that's on the turnpike, otherwise its 65 and This bike hums at those speeds and begs to go faster and will if ya shoot it the throttle.
It is very smooth and responsive at those speeds, no vibration at all, in town it wants to just go go go. It does not like the 30 and 40 mile an hour speed limits, but seems to be happy at 50 miles an hour or higher. Have not got one bad thing to say about this machine. It is a piece that wants to please its rider and that it does. I don't need to worry bout cc bikes or bigger, I can run with them all day.
The point is cc's makes me happy, and oh well if I had a cc or bigger I still would have the same speed limits so why do I need more. I just chose what was right for me and could not be any happier with my choice. Then again, the Ninja has been around a long time and is bullet proof so I don't worry bout it. Loves the curves and loves 50 mph or better but in town is able to hold its own to anything. Could not be any happier. Soon to add sarachu exhaust, those things are awesome, and no need to rejet which is nice.
Will be nice to hear the power underneath ya. For those looking for a nice bike and don't want to spend a fortune, this is the machine, believe me. You will have made a very wise choice and probably all the bike you will ever need, awesome gas milage, bullet proof design, liquid cooled, no vibration, loves to run and please its rider.
What more could ya ask for? The bike has an upright riding position very similar to what you see with standard-style bikes. The bike has a half fairing, with a smallish upper-cowl and a lower half fairing. As a starter type bike, this bike has proven itself to be a quality choice, and has remained essentially unchanged since Herein lies the problem, when compared to newer bikes today, this bike looks like a bike designed 13 years ago.
The dual exhaust looks out of place when compared to CC bikes that use single exhaust pipes and the generic-shaped single headlight only helps to make this bike look old.
The very large turn-signals on the front and back along with the rear fender which is much less exaggerated then what is seen on today's modern sport bikes continue this trend.
The grip-bar mounted behind the lady seat is a 'feature' that has been phased out from virtually every other motorcycle years ago. The bike's performance is another story.
While this bike isn't going to keep up with a 4-cylinder cc bike on a straightaway, it certainly has enough performance to outrun pretty much anything with more then two seats. The bike also handles just as well as your cc race-replicas, which rewards experienced riders with a lot of serious twisty fun.
The aftermarket holds a little bit for this bike, but because of this bikes precisely balanced drive train, it does not respond very well to performance mods; in most cases, just replacing the air filter alone also requires rejetting the carb, otherwise you risk losing power from running too lean. My bike is a but it hasn't changed since Comfort is great with a Corbin seat.
It's not too high so that it hurts your spine, and it's not too forward to hurt your wrists and neck. Handling is as good as anything with Diablo tires and upgraded suspension. In the turns horsepower doesn't matter so much. What matters is wieght and this bike is very light and the smaller tires make it turn better than a bike with larger tires.
Performance is good. But keep in mind that power is easily sensitized. This is a pleasant bike with good pull. Faster than any car. But it's not a superbike. With this bike you don't have to worry about wheel spin, just wack the throttle full open and hold on for a good ride.
The Sarachu slip-on's really make this sound good. Better than any I No bike is more practical and fun than this little do it all machine. It has been super-reliable, only requiring the usual routine maintenance items such as oil and filters. Just this year, I'm having to replace tires, brake pads and battery - not bad for 11, miles. Good gas mileage too - around 45 MPG.
This is my first bike and I found it very easy to learn on -- very predictable and no 'surprises'. It has more than sufficient power to satisfy my needs. Only complaint is that the seat is somewhat uncomfortable for rides longer than an hour or so. I was aiming for the fz6 Yamaha when I chose this bike ,yes it has on the speedo but keep it under 7k rpm people say it can handle mph on the interstate with no issues. Great for Pc Network Techs like me whom need to get around in these high gas price times.
I love the mpg. I'm getting to ride down to the lake at night, run uptown, downtown, interstate, it don matta Big and laid-back all the way. Unfortunately, my cruising days hit a very abrupt end when a stupid driver decided to turn in front of me at an intersection when her light was red.
Totaled my bike. I took it, I couldn't resist the power and price. I was incredibly surprised by the comfort of this bike. I expected the hard lean-over style with a painfully rigid seat. The Ninja R also has the same sporty styling, which contribute to both form and function—the aerodynamic half-fairing provides wind protection for the rider, and is stylishly complemented by a lower fairing. This is an old article that I only came across because I was looking for technically-factual reviews for this model of motorcycle.
I just thought I should mention in case someone comes after me for the same reason:. But you have TWO of them, you say? So double that figure and you get Sorry, but this one is so simple a kid could figure it out.
If not, I suggest you do so soonest and replace him with a reasonably-intelligent middle school student. I read a review on a model that ran a Mine will run a redline limited mph.
I weigh lbs, though. These bikes are a lot of fun, I recomend them as a first bike or a commuter. Very nice to ride. Kawasaki Ninja R. Read More: Kawasaki Versys
